We are very proud to announce the availability of new releases for the main modules that make up FWCloud. It has been a very hard work that have taken several months but at last it is finished and available for the FWCloud community.
These are the new versions for each module:
- FWCloud-API 1.6.0
- FWCloud-UI 1.5.0
- FWCloud-Websrv 1.0.8
- FWCloud-Agent 1.1.8
There are many new features and improvements but I would highlight the plugins feature for simplify adding new functionalities to our firewalls. At this moment it is possible to use the OpenVPN and GeoIP plugins for add OpenVPN server support and country objects into our policy, but in a very near future release it would be possible to add other functionalities like CrowdSec, NTopNG, Suricata, etc.
This new plugins ecosystem will allow that firewalls managed from FWCloud have Next Generation FireWalls (NGFW) advanced features very useful for improve the security of our networks and communications.
Another powerful new feature is the country and continents objects for use in the firewall policy. It will allow us, for example, to block a full country or continent for avoid a geographically located attack.
The 2FA (two factor authentication) is a very great feature too for improve security in the access and authentication to the FWCloud user interface.
Update procedure
The next time you access your FWCloud platform by means of the web user interface, a popup message will warn you about the new versions for FWCloud-UI, FWCloud-API and FWCloud-Websrv packages. Say yes to run the update process and your FWCloud platform will be updated in a matter of a few minutes.
To update Docker containers when new versions of FWCloud are available follow the next instructions published in the corresponding section of the FWCloud website.
