We’re proud to announce the release of a new FWCloud patch release. This new version delivers significant improvements to OpenVPN management, optimized NFTables compilation, Suricata integration, and overall platform performance and stability—making FWCloud even more powerful, scalable, and easier to manage.
ATTENTION: This release requires Node.js 20 or later.
IMPORTANT – OpenVPN Status Sampling Migration
The OPENVPN_STATUS_FILES option in the FWCloud-Agent .env file has been deprecated and is no longer used.
After upgrading, if you want FWCloud to continue collecting OpenVPN connection history and statistics, you must enable Status Sampling for each OpenVPN server from the FWCloud web interface.
To do so:
Otherwise, no new OpenVPN connection history or statistics will be collected after the upgrade.
These are the new module versions:
To update Docker containers when new versions of FWCloud are available, follow the instructions published in the corresponding section of the FWCloud website.
For FWCloud-Installer installations, the next time you access your FWCloud platform through the web interface, a popup message will notify you about the available updates for FWCloud-UI, FWCloud-API, FWCloud-Agent, and FWCloud-Websrv. Confirm the update process and your FWCloud platform will be updated automatically in just a few minutes.

After upgrading, if you want FWCloud to continue collecting OpenVPN connection history and statistics, you must enable Status Sampling for each OpenVPN server from the FWCloud web interface.
To do so:
- Navigate to the corresponding OpenVPN Server in FWCloud.
- Open its configuration.
- Enable Status Sampling.
- Apply the configuration to the firewall.
Otherwise, no new OpenVPN connection history or statistics will be collected after the upgrade.
These are the new module versions:
- FWCloud-API 2.5.5
- FWCloud-UI 2.5.4
- FWCloud-Agent 2.2.1
- One of the major additions is the new optimized NFTables policy compilation, which can now be enabled from the Firewall and Cluster configuration panels, providing faster policy generation and improved scalability for large rule sets.
- OpenVPN management has received a major update with configurable Status Sampling, complete backend support for status collection, improved connection history performance and pagination, native support for openvpn-server systemd units, and automatic management of client configuration directories.
- OpenVPN Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) has also been significantly improved. Administrators can now manage client 2FA from a unified interface with QR code improvements, secret copy and visibility controls, updated client configuration downloads, and direct visibility of the 2FA status in the VPN trees.
- The Suricata plugin has been enhanced with configurable activation parameters, allowing administrators to select the monitoring interface, optionally configure an OINKCODE for Emerging Threats Pro rules, validate installation parameters before activation, and automatically install the required packages and rule sources.
- In addition, this release includes numerous performance optimizations and bug fixes affecting OpenVPN history queries, policy compilation, Fail2Ban compatibility, firewall and policy tree handling, Angular build tooling, dependency updates, and many user interface improvements.
